Already registered? Click here to login now! The BFx-02 is a purpose-built backend for mmWave frequency extenders that focuses only on the functions required for extender-based measurement. It provides RF stimulus and local oscillator drive to the extenders, then receives the resulting intermediate-frequency signals corresponding to the launched, reflected, and transmitted waves.
Webinar: Optimizing SiC Power Systems with Real Measurements
As power electronics transition from Silicon (Si) to Silicon Carbide (SiC), higher switching speeds and efficiency gains make it critical to understand how devices behave under real operating conditions, and how those results inform design decisions. In this webinar: • Learn how to characterize the dynamic performance of SiC MOSFETs using standardized methods like Double Pulse Testing (DPT) following JEDEC definitions.
Clock Domain Crossing and Synchronizers (Part 2): Best Practices
The other dominant factor in the MTBF exponential term is the number of synchronizer stages (n). Increasing the number of flip-flop stages will increase the MTBF exponentially as well, but in turn, it will increase the area, leakage power, and number of cycles after which the data can be sampled safely. Sometimes the available synchronizers may not meet the required MTBF specifications. In other situations, they may not have enough stages, or the PDK may not have synchronizer cells at all.
Top Stories of the Week: Apr. 13-17, 2026
We have some great articles in the latest Top Stories of the Week, with a few focusing on artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) plus the usual articles about the latest power, analog, and computer technology. My contribution this week is about technical debt. One thing that generative AI is good at is generating lots and lots of text, including programming code. This is great if the software works.
Mixer Technology for Advanced Communications (5G & 6G)
As 5G scales and 6G emerges, mixers are critical to RF performance. Read this Cadence ebook, Mixer Technology for Advanced Communications, covering the core principles behind modern mixer architectures used in today’s wireless systems.
Choosing the Right Power Conversion Strategy for Your Application
In this QuickChat, Bill Wong, head of content for Electronic Design, and Jared Birk, technical marketing engineer with Würth Elektronik , break down one of the most common challenges engineers face: choosing the right power supply topology for their application. From understanding isolated versus non-isolated power supply designs to navigating the nuances of AC to DC versus DC to DC converters, Birk walks through the key decisions that impact performance, safety, and efficiency.
Engineer Feedback on Careers and AI
Our 2025 Salary and Career Survey results are in, with the surveyed engineers and designers having a background focus spanning from electrical to mechanical to automation. You can check out our Electronic Design Salary Comparison Tool if you’re so inclined. Like everyone else, for years, we’ve been tracking the migration of machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) on engineers and their careers. It’s affected everything from the development process to AI education.
How Dummy Silicon Helps Drive 3D Chip Innovation
In the fast-moving world of semiconductor manufacturing, innovation often outpaces established methods of verification and validation. The advent of 3D ICs adds to this challenge by stacking multiple layers of active devices, or chiplets, on top of each other in ultra-dense configurations. This approach introduces new manufacturing complexities and raises fresh questions about long-term reliability.
Special Report: 2026 Market Forecast
Figuring out where the markets are headed this year is a challenge because of the turmoil due to wars, tariffs, and politics. These issues may impact the speed at which new technology is delivered, but it’s often a matter of adjusting the level of the trend rather than a radical course change. This year we asked our contributors to focus on a narrow topic rather than a broad, AI-in-everything overview.
Top Stories of the Week: Apr. 6-10, 2026
Andy's Picks From Around the Web Tech layoffs are at their worst since 2023, and AI is a big reason. Link (4/5/26) Iran threatens ‘complete and utter annihilation’ of OpenAI's $30B Stargate AI data center in Abu Dhabi — regime posts video with satellite imagery of ChatGPT-maker's premier 1GW data center. With the dependencies created by the US on AI for warfighting, these seem to be the modern-day ball-bearing factories to take out.
