In June, at its Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple spent an unusual chunk of time during its keynote talking up new Child Safety features coming to its devices later this fall. The addition of these features came as a surprise to Sarah Gardner, who just so happened to be tied to a tree outside Apple Park in Cupertino, California, at the same time.

Scientists have successfully shown a quantum computer can improve the accuracy and reach of generative artificial intelligence drug discovery models. And they did it using their spare time and money leftover from other projects. The Technical University of Denmark team ran their generative AI model for predicting proteins in conjunction with a printer-sized quantum computer built by British startup ORCA Computing, which sped up AI by linking quantum machines with traditional processors.

It depends on what you’re doing. If you need fast data transfer speeds, then you want a solid-state drive (SSD). If you have massive amounts of data to store or back up, then a spinning drive (hybrid hard drive, or HDD) is the cheaper option. If you’re a videographer, you need both—open your wallet wide. But this is the first World Cup ever with the semifinal spots occupied by the top four teams entering the World Cup. France is at No. 1, Argentina is at No. 2, Spain is third and England is fourth.

Argentina needed a late winner again on Saturday night. And Julián Álvarez provided a golazo. Álvarez’s incredible strike from outside the penalty box in the 112th minute put Argentina up a goal in its 3-1 extra-time win over 10-man Switzerland. It was Argentina’s second extra-time win in three knockout-round games in this World Cup and the defending World Cup champions will face England in the semifinals on Wednesday.

England is advancing to the World Cup semifinals with a 2-1 win over Norway, thanks to a heroic brace from star midfielder Jude Bellingham. But as the team celebrated the victory, England manager Thomas Tuchel was more focused on what the players needed to do better, calling it a “lucky” win and bluntly chiding the team for their “sloppy” tactics. When asked about Tuchel’s criticism after the game, though, Bellingham brushed it off. “Yeah, well, whatever,” Bellingham said.
