The Emory Wheel is the student-run newspaper of Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. The Wheel is published once a week on Wednesday during the regular school year, and is updated daily on its website. The sections of the Wheel include News, Opinion, Sports, Emory Life, Arts & Entertainment and, formerly, The Hub, an award-winning quarterly magazine founded in 2005. Serving the Emory community since 1919, the Wheel is editorially and financially independent from the University. The staff is composed entirely of students, with the exception of the general manager, who oversees advertising and whose salary is paid by the newspaper. ‘There’s always a way’: Men’s basketball defeats top-ranked UChicago in overtime thriller
In a high-pressure overtime matchup on Feb. 8, the then-No. 7 Emory University men’s basketball team defeated the then-No. 1 University of Chicago (UChicago) 97-94 in their second overtime win of the weekend. Senior guard and forward Jair Knight delivered a career-high performance, putting up 36 points and sealing the victory with a steal in the final seconds of overtime. Despite his individual success, Knight said that the Eagles’ win was rooted in the team’s collective effort.

Rutherford, Yee elected editors-in-chief
Multimedia Managing Editor Jack Rutherford (27C) and News Managing Editor Lauren Yee (24Ox, 27C) were elected editors-in-chief of The Emory Wheel on Feb. 5. Rutherford and Yee ran unopposed and received 100% of the votes cast. Of the 49 eligible voters, 39 voted in the election. The pair will succeed current Editors-in-Chief Ellie Fivas (24Ox, 26C) and Spencer Friedland (26C) on March 5.

The Emory Wheel regularly meets with Emory Police Department (EPD) Records Manager Ed Shoemaker (87G, 90G) and Director of Campus Safety Communications Morieka Johnson (94C, 24L) and uses EPD’s public crime log to inform the Emory University community about recent crime on and around Emory’s campuses. Ossoff zeroes in on Trump ahead of November midterms
As eager supporters packed into the Georgia International Convention Center, a marching band played, and cheers erupted in support of Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-Ga.). About a thousand people attended the Feb. 7 rally as Ossoff seeks re-election later this year. Before his entrance, Ossoff’s campaign hosted speakers to discuss topics such as health care, tariffs and the Trump administration. The speakers included small business owners, community leaders and an Affordable Care Act (ACA) recipient.
