October 8, 2026 Mon dieu! Quel bordel, as say the French. France, the home of reason and logic, is consumed by riots. How can a nation with such advanced education be in such a mess? Some two thirds of its 3,700 high schools are now closed, and many are put to the sack. It’s as if the barbarian Vandals have reappeared from the Fifth Century to lay fire and sword on France. French students are whining their classrooms are too old or decrepit.

September 25, 2026 The Houthis are a small tribe in Yemen’s mountainous north who love their quirky Zaidi sect of militant Islam, cherish their guns, and love to chew the narcotic shrub qat. I joined Houthis in the wild mountains of Yemen to follow their wars and chew qat. Houthis like to argue, smoke weed and repel invaders. They live in one of our planet’s wildest, most inhospitable regions, so bleak and arid that even the local camels are cranky and irritable.

September 4, 2026 Stalin once said, `The death of one person is a tragedy. The death of thousands is a mere statistic.’ He was quite right, of course. Palestine is the current example of Stalin’s cynical observation. There, young, violent Israeli hoodlums – known as ‘settlers’ in western media – have been trying to terrorize Arab villagers into flight. It’s all part of a broad plan of genocide against peaceful Palestinian villagers.

August 25, 2026 I’ve been all over the world and have seen both its good and sordid countries. One of the best run, most decent and honest nations I’ve seen is Canada. As George Bernard Shaw noted, Canada is a wonderful country, but it has nine months of winter and three months of fall. It has vast forests, beautiful lakes, lots of beautiful animals and birds, lavish natural resources, and people, as I’ve found, who are the kindest, most honest and thoughtful in the world.

August 13, 2026 Murdering foreign leaders is not something any American president should ever do. How can the US uphold its claim to be a champion of laws and political decency while committing murder and sabotage? Alas, Donald Trump is not the first US president to stoop so low. The Eisenhower and Kennedy administrations enlisted gangsters in attempts to remove the irksome Cuban strongman, Fidel Castro.

July 28, 2026 Washington has opened talks with Saudi Arabia to consider nuclear capability for the desert kingdom. The Americans and Saudis insist they are only discussing peaceful nuclear weapons. Don’t believe it. The Saudis argue they must have nuclear capability to generate energy when their oil begins to wear out. Every oil-producing nation can rightly make the same argument. When the oil runs out, no more gold beds, French furniture, show girls and disposable Rolls-Royces.

July 16, 2026 Keep your eyes on the Bab el-Mandeb, or Strait of Tears, the narrow strait at the southern tip of the Arabian Peninsula. Twenty-five percent of the world’s container shipping passes through this vital strait. This is the mandatory passage on the fastest route from Europe and the Mideast to Asia.

July 10, 2026 Vast numbers of angry Albanians have been protesting across their Balkan nation for the past 38 nights. They are enraged by the Trumps’ commercial empire trying to grab the very last undeveloped coastal regions along the Mediterranean and adjoining Adriatic Sea.

June 16, 2026 Donald Trump, who managed to evade the draft during the Vietnam War, said recently that he wanted to be a ‘wartime president.’ He was clearly thinking of brass bands, fancy uniforms, medals and snappy honor guards to compliment his continental-sized ego. Well, he got his wish, and it’s been a disaster.
