The Trojans (39-31) erased a four-run deficit to post their 18th come-from-behind win of the season and advance to a game Tuesday against the loser of the West Virginia-North Carolina game Sunday night.

Kentucky's search for a new athletic director is poised to continue the administrative churn at Michigan State. Per ESPN sources, Kentucky has targeted Michigan State athletic director J Batt to be the school's new athletic director. The sides have not completed a deal, but Kentucky is in the throes a strong push to bring Batt back to the SEC. Batt's looming departure comes in the wake of continued administrative disruption at Michigan State.

OMAHA, Neb. -- John Savage, whose UCLA team was ranked No. 1 the entire regular season and matched its program record with 52 wins, was named Skip Bertman Coach of the Year by the College Baseball Foundation on Saturday. The Bruins swept the Big Ten Conference regular-season and tournament titles and were the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament, losing in regionals. Their 48 regular-season wins were most in program history and they finished 52-8. The award is named for the longtime LSU coach.

OMAHA, Neb. -- In the giddiness of watching one of their own make it to the Men's College World Series, a group of Enterprise State Community College baseball alums started sending a flurry of texts to coach Samuel "Bubba" Frichter with the same request. "Can we take the Boll Weevil bus to Omaha?" The answer, sadly, was no, because the 16-hour-plus trip from Enterprise, Alabama, to Omaha, Nebraska, would violate safety regulations.

The Men's College World Series is kicking off and this year's field is one you don't want to miss. We welcome Troy and West Virginia to Omaha as they'll be making their MCWS debuts, while the SEC set a record by clinching five of the eight spots in this year's field. Auburn junior Ja'Kobe Tharp broke the world record in the men's 110-meter hurdles Wednesday night, running a blistering time of 12.75 seconds at the NCAA outdoor track and field championship meet Wednesday at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. Tharp, the defending champion in the event, surpassed American Aries Merritt's record of 12.80, a mark that had stood since September 2012.

Holy smokes, what an NCAA baseball tournament it has been. So, here's an idea. Leave it the hell alone. There are zero returning teams from last year's Men's College World Series participating in the edition that will begin Friday afternoon in Omaha, Nebraska. That's OK. Heck, that happened last year, too. The first time since 1957. So, 23 different teams on college baseball's biggest stage over the span of three years -- North Carolina being the only outlier by making it in 2024 and 2026.

EUGENE, Ore. -- The track and field stadium at the University of Oregon was evacuated following a bomb threat Tuesday afternoon, a day before the venue is to begin hosting the NCAA's outdoor championships. The threat was made by phone shortly after 1 p.m., according to the university. Athletes who were practicing at Hayward Field at the time were evacuated and a news conference scheduled for Tuesday afternoon was canceled.
