5 Market Opportunities to Watch in H2 2026
The first half of 2026 reminded investors that markets can quickly shift between optimism and uncertainty. Buffett Bought $23.5 Billion in Stocks. Google Was His Biggest Bet
Berkshire Hathaway purchased $23.5 billion worth of stocks in the second quarter of 2026, with the largest share of that capital flowing into Google’s parent company, Alphabet. The firm also increased its exposure to air travel and U.S. homebuilders. Warren Buffett’s portfolio was worth nearly $300 billion at the end of June 2026. Gold Gains More Than 10% in a Month. Is It Heading for New Highs?
After the price of gold remained around $4,000 per ounce for an extended period, it has risen by approximately 11% since the beginning of August 2026. Can quarterly earnings save the fading rally in chip Stocks?
Despite reporting record revenues, semiconductor companies have seen their share prices fluctuate sharply in recent weeks. The current earnings season will reveal whether the euphoria on Wall Street still has room to continue. Strong financial results alone, however, are no longer enough for investors–they expect perfection. Companies must now clear an already exceptionally high bar.
Women overestimate how difficult investing is – but a new study shows that can change in just seven days
Millions of women believe investing is far harder than it really is, according to new research from etoro, suggesting that the UK’s £574bn gender investment gap is driven in part by perception rather than financial barriers. A survey of 2,000 UK women found 73% believe they’d need to learn a lot before they could start investing, and 62% find the idea overwhelming. Yet women who already invest tell a different story: 69% say investing is made to seem more complicated than it really is.
NATO Summit in Ankara Brings Tens of Billions in New Defence Contracts
Leaders of all 32 NATO member states gathered in Ankara, Turkey. US President Trump surprised allies with a wave of criticism, once again complaining about insufficient European support in the war with Iran. Allies, for their part, emphasised solidarity and the acceleration of plans to increase defence spending. For European defence manufacturers such as Rheinmetall, the key question is how quickly NATO member states intend to reach the 5% of GDP defence spending target.
