Everyday, dozens of Filipino babies are born with hearing impairments that often go unnoticed, not until it is too late. But soon enough, these babies would finally be able to hear their parent’s voices clearly for the first time. Scientists from the University of the Philippines – Manila developed Hearing for Life (HeLe), the nation’s first-ever locally-made Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered device that can detect hearing problems in newborns automatically and in real time.

Amid the country’s dependence on imported oil, Energy Secretary Sharon Garin said on March 17 that fuel rationing will not be implemented unless demand triggers a surge in hoarding or excessive storage by consumers and businesses. “Parang wala pa naman ‘yan sa naeenvision namin based on the situation today. The University of Santo Tomas (UST) Junior Growling Tigresses opened the UAAP girls’ basketball finals with a 96–87 overtime victory over the National University Nazareth School (NUNS) Lady Bullpups at Blue Eagle Gym on March 15. NUNS traded leads with UST throughout regulation before the Growling Tigresses forced overtime after a late deficit,  sending the game to an 82-all deadlock at the end of the fourth quarter.
