Big Shakeup Hits ESPN's 'College GameDay'
A significant behind-the-scenes change is reportedly coming to ESPN's "College GameDay." Jim Gaiero, who has served as a lead producer on the iconic college football pregame show for the past decade, has been removed from the program, according to Awful Announcing. Matthew Garrett, ESPN's vice president of production, is expected to take over as executive producer. Gaiero isn't leaving ESPN.

Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Barry Pearson, who played a small but fascinating role in one of the most famous moments in NFL history, has died. He was 76. Pearson died peacefully on Aug. 16 surrounded by family and close friends, according to his obituary. The former Northwestern standout spent two seasons with Pittsburgh, and his NFL debut came during the Steelers' legendary 1972 playoff victory over the Oakland Raiders.
Michael Strahan and Girlfriend Reportedly Welcomed a Baby Together
Michael Strahan reportedly has another reason to celebrate. The Pro Football Hall of Famer and longtime girlfriend Kayla Quick quietly welcomed a baby girl earlier this year, according to TMZ. Sources with direct knowledge told the outlet that Strahan and Quick became parents together in 2026. The baby is the couple's first child together and the fifth for Strahan. Strahan and Quick have been linked since 2015 but have largely kept their relationship away from the public spotlight.
Young Athlete and CEO Die in Head-on Crash
A former high school lacrosse standout who once planned to play at the Division I level was one of two people killed in a head-on crash in New York's Hudson Valley. Peter B. Bonenfant, 19, and Philip F. Jacobus, 72, died following the Sunday morning crash on Route 28 in the town of Olive, according to New York State Police.
Miles Sanders Was Just Arrested
Former NFL Pro Bowl running back Miles Sanders is facing charges after being arrested for allegedly driving under the influence in the Pittsburgh area. According to CBS Pittsburgh, Sanders was charged with DUI and careless driving stemming from a June 8 incident in Churchill Borough, roughly 10 miles outside Pittsburgh. Police said an officer found Sanders slumped over behind the wheel of his Lexus, which was stopped in the middle of William Penn Highway.

A major change is taking place within the NFL. The Pro Bowl will no longer exist as an All-Star event. According to The Athletic, the league made a presentation to team owners on Wednesday regarding the future of the Pro Bowl. The honor will still remain, but the game — or games — associated will no longer happen.
New York Football Legend Gets Engaged to DJ
Former New York Giants star Victor Cruz has another reason to celebrate. The Super Bowl champion is engaged to DJ and producer Orange Calderon, with the couple announcing the news on social media after roughly two years of dating. Calderon showed off her oval-cut diamond engagement ring in a series of Instagram photos alongside the former Giants receiver. "Mrs. Cruz has a nice ?'? to it," she wrote.

Two professional hockey players are getting ready to make it official. PWHL stars Emily Clark and Jaime Bourbonnais announced their engagement on social media, adding another celebration to what has already been a memorable summer around the league. "The joy of my life," Clark wrote in announcing the news. Bourbonnais was equally enthusiastic, writing, "Forever and ever and ever!!!" The two have plenty of hockey history together.
