The preview chapters for Warriors: Changing Skies #4: Guiding Light were released recently, giving readers their first look at the continuing arc with the Allegiances, Prologue, and first three chapters. The book comes out on October 6th of this year, leaving about a month and two weeks until then. With all the Warrior Cats news lately, like the TV show and video game, it is good to dive back into what started it all: the books.

Mitsuru Sangou is a Japanese BL (boys’ love) manga artist known primarily for her hit series Mask Danshi: This Shouldn’t Lead to Love. She appeared as a guest at Otakon 2026, and Fandom Spotlite had the honor of interviewing her! This year’s D23 event featured many exciting announcements about Disney’s future projects. One such announcement revealed the next project in the ongoing collaboration effort between WEBTOON and Disney. Disney Cursed Love is an all-new romantasy adventure inspired by some of Disney’s most iconic love stories.

Actress Hayden Panettiere passed away on Sunday, August 16th in Greenville, South Carolina, just five days before her 37th birthday. The cause of death has not yet been identified. Hayden Panettiere’s acting career began when she was a very young girl and spanned a variety of genres and mediums. In 2005, she played the leading (human) role in Racing Stripes as well as one of the co-leads in Disney’s Ice Princess.

By now, all die-hard fans should know that the Warriors team announced a RPG video game called Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest. Available on all systems (PC and console), it is expected to release this fall. Two weeks ago on July 28th, the official Warriors Instagram page began teasing what would become the video game news. From the start, fans were speculating that the reveal, initially just Brightheart art, would be models for the TV show coming in 2028.

Even though many would disagree with me (and often have), I believe there is merit to the idea that every horror movie has redeeming surface value. Especially the ones that last a long time beyond the eighth run at the drive-in circuit, where the film is so scratched it looks like Freddy Krueger went on a bender (what a nightmare for projectionists)! You know the ones.

This past February, my friend Stari asked me two questions: “Do you like Umamusume?” followed immediately by “Would you go see a movie with me?” My answers were “I only know that it exists lol” and, after a couple follow-up questions, “Putting it on my calendar now!!” At the time, I had no idea what I was getting myself into by agreeing to tag along.

After my success in June, I was determined to make my July reading wrap-up just as long. Ultimately, this might’ve been too ambitious considering half of last month’s books were graphic novels. I suppose I was successful at completing more reading in July than in June if I look just at novels. I’m still very pleased with this wrap-up (even if I was expecting to read ten books a month in the summer).

The 2020s have been inundated with movies about Pinocchio the puppet. There was an Italian live action movie in 2019, a Russian cartoon in 2021, Disney’s official live action remake of their 1940 cartoon in 2022, and Guillermo del Toro’s version came out that same year. But the only one I personally was excited about is the independent slasher called Pinocchio: Unstrung.
