No, I’m not turning this into a shopping newsletter. I’m committed to sharing styling tips, repeating outfits, featuring items I actually own, wear and love, and encouraging you to shop your closet first. But, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t shop. I love to shop. It’s my favorite hobby, even when I don’t buy anything. So in the spirit of transparency, I thought I’d share a round up of what’s in my cart, why, and if they’re clothes (because some of them aren’t), how I’d style them.
10 Best Things I Bought in Q2
Am I the only one that feels like they blinked and now we’re almost halfway through July? The start to summer felt slow and long, probably due to the rain we experienced in the PNW and the shorter than expected school year, but now we’re firmly July and summer is flying by.
What's In My Bag, ft. Charu
Hi, Hello! We’re back with another installment of my favorite series featuring what’s in the bag of my various internet (and IRL) friends1, an exercise that’s as close to snooping as is socially acceptable.
OIW (Outfits in the Wild)
Hi, hello! We’re back again with my OIWs for the month of June. As is usually the case this time of year, the weather was all over the place, most of my free time was filled with baseball, the pool, and birthday celebrations, with a little solo travel thrown in. I embraced the first days of Sundress Season with glee, wore an abundance of button up shirts, and my jean shorts are getting a solid amount of wear.
Sundress Season
There’s no denying I love shorts, but there’s something pretty great, and really no outfit that’s easier, than throwing on a sundress and dashing out the door. A single, light, breezy layer that in it’s best form, makes you feel hot not sweaty. The season may be short for many of us, sometimes just three months if we’re lucky, but damn, if it isn’t glorious.
OIW (Outfits in the Wild)
It’s been a while since I’ve done an OIW (Outfits in the Wild) post and after talking to a handful of women on here whom I respect and admire, I’m trying something different with it. Because I can’t quit my Thursday newsletters completely - because duh, I love it here - I’m planning to share my OIW semi-regularly, most likely once a month.
Hi, Hello. It's Nice to Meet You.
I had another newsletter planned for today, in fact, I have a lot of fun newsletters planned, but as sometimes happens, I wasn’t feeling it. I’ve spent the last week traveling with my bestie, prepping for an event, and of course, there’s Father’s Day.
Red + Brown
I’ve been known to hyper fixate on a color combination or two and make them my whole personality in the the process. After all, this book gets picked up much more frequently than the handful of unread novels that live by my bedside. I don’t know exactly when or how it happened, but I can’t get enough of red with brown right now, especially as we head into summer. Rich shades of brown from chocolate to caramel paired with red in hues of cherry and tomato.
What's in My Bag, ft. Elin Strong
See? I told you I’d be back in your inbox on the occasional Thursday, this time with thanks to my friend Elin Strong. She had already agreed to participate in my WIMB series before we scheduled our video call, but after spending nearly two hours chatting, well over our allotted time in the calendar, I knew it was going to be a good one.
Anatomy of a Good Button Up
Although I’ve been wearing some form of a button up shirt since high school, it’s safe to say I’ve officially entered my Button Up Shirt Era. Over the last few years I’ve amassed an impressive collection of shirts ranging in price, color, and era, all with subtle variations on the classic menswear inspired style that I pull from nearly daily. I rely on the ease and polish that they my outfits all year round, and as I mentioned last week, they really thrive in summer.
