Search ArticlesLocal fireworks costing our wildlife in Fountain Hills
OPINION — As a frequent visitor to the park who knows and loves our resident, year-round waterfowl, I deeply worry about the effects of the annual Fourth of July fireworks display. Every year on the morning of July 5, I find myself at the park early to check on them. For those who may not know, our lake is home to a small community of domestic ducks. They do not migrate because they can’t; they are abandoned pets and farm ducks dumped at the lake.
Clear differences in leadership for Fountain Hills election
OPINION — Character is our most important quality. It guides one's moral actions and decisions. I believe there are clear differences to decide what leadership we need for Fountain Hills. Serving or ruling? Friendliness or bullying? Forgiveness or retaliation? Praising or insulting? Uplifting or demeaning? Good neighbors or fence building? Polite or accusatory? Civil or pugnacious? Win-win mentality or my way is the only way? Nice or mean? Inclusionary or exclusionary? Golden rule or selfishness?

Posted Monday, July 13, 2026 6:00 am The Arizona Supreme Court sided unanimously July 7 with Maricopa County Recorder Justin Heap in his fight with the county Board of Supervisors over election duties, upholding a lower court’s ruling that Supervisors acted illegally and exceeded their “statutory authority by seizing the Recorder’s personnel, systems and equipment and refusing to return them” to Heap, who has been associated with election deniers.

PHOENIX - A federal judge is at least temporarily blocking enforcement of a rule that could allow election workers to kick someone out of a polling place for wearing a uniform - and possibly have them arrested. In a new ruling late Thursday, U.S. District Court Judge Michael Liburdi said the rule crafted by Secretary of State Adrian Fontes, goes beyond what Arizona law says is illegal.
