La FIDH (Fédération internationale pour les droits humains) est une ONG internationale de défense des droits humains. Elle regroupe 188 organisations nationales de défense des droits humains dans 116 pays. Depuis 1922, la FIDH est engagée dans la défense de tous les droits civils, politiques, économiques, sociaux et culturels tels que définis dans la Déclaration universelle des droits de l’Homme. 21 septembre 2026. La Commission européenne a confirmé aux médias that it will maintain its ban on new oil and gas drilling in the Arctic. La Commission a prévu d’annoncer la nouvelle le 20 octobre lorsqu’elle présentera sa nouvelle Stratégie de voisinage Nord. Le soutien de l’Union européenne à cette interdiction, auquel se sont opposés certains pays et entreprises, intervient après un été qui a montré les dangers du dérèglement climatique pour la survie et les droits de l’humanité.

New information: The Observatory has been informed about the denial of entry and the continued arbitrary restriction of the freedom of movement of Mr Brian Kagoro, Zimbabwean human rights defender, constitutional lawyer, and Africa Director of the Open Society Foundations (OSF). On 15 September 2026, Mr Brian Kagoro travelled from South Africa via Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to return to Kenya and attend proceedings concerning his detention and deportation from Kenya in February 2026.

Le rapport du Bureau régional Amérique latine et Caraïbes du Haut-Commissariat des Nations unies aux droits de l’homme, qui couvre la période du 15 juin 2025 au 15 juin 2026, alerte sur l’accélération du démantèlement des institutions démocratiques et de l’état de droit, de la concentration du pouvoir accrue et du rétrécissement de l’espace civique. Ces huit dernières années, 5 539 organisations ont été arbitrairement dissoutes et au moins 56 organes de presse ont été fermés.

Description de la situation : L’Observatoire a été informé de la détention arbitraire de Maître Abdourahamane Lirwana, avocat, défenseur des droits humains nigérien et membre du Mouvement patriotique pour une citoyenneté responsable (MPCR), un mouvement citoyen prenant régulièrement position sur la gestion des affaires publiques au Niger.

28 September 2026. The Supreme Court’s intervention followed months of delay in the determination of their applications for suspension of sentence arising from their conviction under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) in relation to “anti-state” social media posts. Yet, within hours of the Supreme Court ordering their release, the two lawyers were arrested again in connection with an earlier case registered in March 2025 concerning their alleged participation in a protest in Islamabad.

Mister President, We are once again disappointed that the Singaporean government missed an opportunity to address international concerns over the human rights situation in the country and to accept important UPR recommendations. The government has regurgitated its false claim that Singapore’s “outcomes” are largely consistent with the objectives of international human rights treaties.

Description of the situation: The Observatory has been informed of a wave of raids and arbitrary detentions targeting LGBTQI+ human rights defenders and their organisations in Turkey, including Kaos GL, Muamma LGBTQI+ Association, Mersin 7 Renk LGBTQI+ Solidarity Association, SPoD, HEVİ LGBTQI+ Association, Lambdaistanbul, LİSTAG, as well as two organisations working with people living with HIV, Pozitif Yaşam and Pozitif-iz.
