We’re relics—old-school adventurers who make no apologies for who we are. We’re men of global experience with the confidence to explore the uncharted places. At first light, we’re masters of logistics; by sundown, we’re whiskey-fueled philosophers by a campfire.
We’re gearheads, too. We like the best of everything and if we can’t wear it out or break it then nobody can. We’re handy with guns, knives, tents, backpacks, boots and everything in between. We’re constantly looking for the next piece of kit to enhance everyday life or make the next adventure a better experience.
But we don’t journey alone. We include our audience in everything we do. We offer our perspective and learn from theirs. We bring readers, listeners, watchers and followers into our conversations and give them a chance to become storytellers through our brand. By creating rich content across platforms in print, online, film, social media and on the Field Ethos podcast, we’re bringing back a forgotten lifestyle to those who refuse to conform.

We're relics, old school watermen who make no apologies for who we are. We're men of global experience with the confidence in our vessels to explore the uncharted blue and shallows. At first light, we're checking the weather, rigging baits, and mastering the logistics of the hunt; by sundown, we're rumfueled philosophers on the dock swapping lies about the one that got away. We're gear obsessives, too. We like the best of everything-and if we can't wear it out or saltwater-corrode it, nobody can.
Travel Tested: The Yeti Panga | Field Ethos
By Mike Schoby It's apt that Yeti named this backpack the Panga as If you ever find yourself in an actual Panga on choppy high seas or with a Cabo captain who has been nipping a bit too much mezcal, you will quickly wish for a waterproof bag. While Yeti designed this backpack to be waterproof and completely submersible, I have found enough uses outside of pure water-based trips for the Panga to become a constant travel companion. The sporting life is one of rough conditions and places.
Spearing African Doggies | Field Ethos
By Peter Correale Everything in Africa wants to kill you-the land animals, the bugs, the people, even the fish. When most sportsmen think of Africa, they think of big-game hunting on terra firma, but for the hardcore free diving spearfisherman, the first thing that comes to mind is the infamous dogtooth tuna, and we will risk life and limb in their pursuit.
Astronaut Training | Field Ethos
By Jess McGlothlin It's sometime after midnight. I'm not sure how long. The sky is velvety black overhead; low, heavy, coastal clouds scudding across the moon. The occasional waves of moonlight blend with the waves of surf at my feet and I watch the water blankly. Three hours of sleep for the past few nights are catching up hard and fast; I'm tired enough that the sand underneath the waves is striating into lovely patterns, and I'm pretty sure moments ago I fell asleep standing up.
California Cowboy Camp | Field Ethos
We're going back Cali-way back. We venture to rural California-where Spanish traditions are still alive and the real West lives on. Join the Field Ethos crew on this sprawling old school ranch as we saddle up, camp under the stars, and hunt wild hogs on horseback. From crisp morning spot-and-stalks to hard-charging recoveries, this trip blends old-school cowboy horsemanship with modern hunting lever-action awesomeness.
Climbing Out of Mearns Country | Field Ethos
By Edgar Castillo With every boot step, the ground moved. It was a balancing act across unseen stones. The dry, knee-high yellow bunch grass covered the steep hillside amongst pine oaks. At any given moment I risked stepping onto loose volcanic rocks that lay hidden, and snapping an ankle. Or worse, damaging the borrowed over-under 28-gauge shotgun. To an unassuming Kansas flatlander, the southern Arizona high country seemed picturesque.

Ted Williams & the Sportfishing Triple Crown | Field Ethos
By Brett Stayton "All I want out of life is that when I walk down the street, folks will say, 'There goes the greatest hitter that ever lived..." - Ted Williams. When you're named after Theodore Roosevelt, you're bound to dream big. While those are tough shoes to fill, it's safe to say Theodore Samuel Williams lived up to the hype. Unlike Teddy Roosevelt, though, Teddy Ballgame didn't speak softly and carry a big stick.
Black Rifle: Sleep When You're Dead | Field Ethos
By Charlie Benton I'm driving east towards home in my unmarked Caprice after a full day and night working a homicide. The sun is back up, and with the heat index, it's 109 degrees outside. Tones drop on the police radio. There's been another murder, and I have to pull off at the next exit, turn around, and head west back into the day's fresh hell. No sleep. I need caffeine. I love coffee-but not when it's egg-frying-on-the-sidewalk hot outside, and I'm wearing boots, pants, and a ballistic vest.
The Do-Everything Rimfire Build | Field Ethos
By Chad Adams I've spent a lot of time during my adult life building up Ruger 10/22s, chasing the perfect build. Now obviously perfect can and does take on a lot of meaning, subjectively colored by the builder's intent. So, along the way, I've played around with many a Franken-Ruger builds, swapping for bull barrels, Hogue overmolded stocks, Timney triggers and the like.
