The best way to look effortlessly chic? One colour dressing ! The way to do it? Keep everything in a single colour : different tones. Because you are having fun with new shapes and interesting textures. ( not kooky colours or pesky prints!) The thing is : you don’t want to have a wardrobe full of multiple colours . That just makes life difficult. Who wants to spend hours in the morning getting dressed trying to work out what colour goes with what?

I have to say Zara is looking fabulous at the moment. Lots of great pieces but it takes time to trawl through it all to go and find what’s worth investing in. Never Fear FiFi is here ! My philosophy is that it doesn’t matter what the price tag, it is still important to be a conscious consumer and think before you buy. You want mileage from your wardrobe and pieces that go the distance.

The FiFi approved simple way to look effortless and chic ? update ! Update ! update ! Update the key classic pieces into new, modern shapes. It’s the way to inject new life into your wardrobe. You don’t need kooky colours, pesky prints or frumpy florals to look farshun. Instead stick to versatile classic colours updated into cool new shapes. The power is in the new ways of styling, new proportions, new silhouettes. ( that’s if you want to look modern and chic ) ( Psssst: You do!) .

Can you guess which pieces I’ve nabbed this month from lululemon ? These fabulous brown balloon style pants and the cool elevated neutral T shirt. Talk about easy, low key chic ! They’re two pieces that have slipped effortlessly straight into my current wardrobe. The pants :  They’re actually called “ a relaxed jogger” – good for yoga – but hey why not wear with heels and a favourite camel blazer ?

FiFi Philosophy numero uno : never decide what you’re going to wear without first putting on shoes. You are not going out in barefeet ! Shoes instantly add a fashion edge , add a third colour, add height and finish your look. They make or break any outfit . What shoes to buy this season ? Last summer the thong sandal was THE shoe I reached for again and again. They’re the perfect mix of casual and chic. You get the glamour of a heel but the thong style gives it a casual vibe.

Thought I’d share all the pieces I’ve loved wearing this season. These are pieces that I have had incredible cost per wear . I’ve worn on repeat. Because they spark joy and I feel good in them. Plus they work hard and seem to be versatile. I have chosen these pieces because  I know they will be worth investing in, you can wear next year. I make a point of never recommending anything that is a one season wonder. My philosophy is to build to a wardrobe.

It’s that time of year. Is it winter or spring? The weather can be all over the place, one day you need a coat , the next a T shirt and blazer. SO what to buy now and wear now ? I want chic elevated basics which are fashiony enough to inject a little cool into my current wardrobe. I want pieces that are good value with great cost per wear. I want pieces that will slide easily into my winter wardrobe but also take me through to summer ( and beyond).

What’s on my own personal wishlist this week? As a full time shopper – let’s face it – I see a lot of things ! So I have decided just to share what I am lusting after, what I am buying, what I have bought. Rather than a theme or occasion, a colour,  or an item du jour, these are just the BEST pieces I have spied and want to share.

FiFi philosophy 101 : update the classics! Everything dates: you can’t keep wearing pieces forever. They have a use by date. That’s if you want to be chic, effortless, modern and cool.
