Worcester City Hospital served residents for over a century
By Michael Perna Jr.Contributing Writer WORCESTER – Back in 1870, Dr. Albert Wood, who was serving as Worcester’s “City Physician,” saw the need for a hospital that would serve the city’s poor population. The hospital would be able to serve twenty patients. His proposal gained support, and by May 1871 it was approved, with the annual estimated cost of running the hospital set at $10,000.

Westborough Post Office worker to become full-time Santa after retirement

For 36 years, those replies have been written by students at Westborough High School. United States Postal Service Clerk Tom Brault started the program, and it’s grown exponentially, with more than 400 letters one year. The Christmas magic was among Brault’s favorite parts of his job.
