International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP)

The Malaysian Pharmacists Society (MPS) is the national professional association representing pharmacists in Malaysia. Established in 1967, MPS serves as a unified voice for the profession, championing high standards of pharmacy practice, professional ethics, and patient-centred care across the country.

FIP works closely with the press to support accurate, timely and impactful reporting on pharmacy practice, pharmacy education and pharmaceutical science and global health developments. FIP provides journalists and media professionals with access to policy developments, research, publications, campaigns and initiatives shaping health care worldwide.

According to the WHO cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the leading cause of death worldwide. An estimated 19.8 million people died from CVDs in 2022, accounting for around 32% of all global deaths. Cardiovascular diseases include various conditions affecting the heart and blood vessels, including heart attacks and strokes. Various behavioural factors increase the risk of developing these conditions. These include poor diet, physical inactivity, and tobacco and alcohol use.

FIP’s Health Literacy Programme is aimed at fostering health equity and inclusivity through enhanced health literacy and is dedicated to understanding and strengthening the crucial connections between health literacy, self-care practices, inclusive healthcare, and equitable pharmacy services. In turn, the priorities can provide each organisation with the foundations for mapping the progress and transformations for their workforce, practice and pharmaceutical science.
