One of the founding principles of Maine Fiddle Camp was to promote the traditional music and dance native to our own state and more broadly to northern New England. There are several Swedish enclaves in Maine, most in Aroostook County, where Swedish culture, music and dance is still celebrated. Check out “Midsommar” held every year on the summer solstice. Born on January 19, 1946, in rural East Tennessee, Dolly was the fourth of twelve children and grew up in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains.

Document Records, which specializes in releasing the complete recordings of early recording artists, has just released its first vinyl LP to mark a century since the first recording of the Skillet Lickers. All previous Document recordings were issued as CDs, primarily of blues and jazz, but also of old-time music in their 8000 series. For example, I have six Document CDs of all recordings of the Skillet Lickers. This LP has been released in a limited edition of 300 copies with 12 tracks.
