F2 racer Luke Browning to make FP1 outing with Williams at Mexico City Grand Prix
F2 title contender and Williams Racing Academy Driver Luke Browning will take part in the first practice session for the upcoming Mexico City Grand Prix, the Grove-based outfit have confirmed. Browning will take over the wheel of Carlos Sainz’s FW47 for the opening 60-minute session at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, fulfilling the third of four mandated rookie driver runs for Williams this year.

Why has George Russell not agreed a Mercedes deal for 2026 yet?
George Russell is in the form of his life. The Briton won his second race of the season and fifth of his career with a sublime conversion of pole position last time out in Singapore and sits in fourth in the Drivers' Standings, only 99 points off the championship lead despite his Mercedes' deficiencies. His boss Toto Wolff said his charge has been "formidable" this year. Despite this comment, and Russell's superb form, he has yet to agree a deal to race in 2026.

The process of allocating a driver number has evolved across the championship’s history.
