1 Sebastian Wheldon will race in the FIA Formula 3 championship in 2027, joining his Formula Regional rival, Kean Nakamura-Berta, at Trident Motorsport. The 17-year-old Anglo-American was runner-up in this year’s Formula Regional European Championship driving for MP Motorsport, having made a last-minute switch from Prema. He won four races, including a double at the team’s home race at Zandvoort and the season finale at Hockenheim, to beat Nakamura-Berta in the standings.
Climbing a hill: Barrichello sees solid progress in “painful” F3 rookie year

The personable Brazilian, the youngest son of multiple Formula 1 race winner Rubens, began to show his true potential in the late summer, scoring points at the Hungaroring and qualifying seventh-fastest at Monza.
Rodin: Badoer promoted to F2, as Clerot joined in F3 by Seewooruthun
1 Rodin Motorsport has stayed loyal to its 2026 drivers in announcing its first signings for next season’s FIA Formula 2 and FIA Formula 3 championships. Brando Badoer will step up to F2 for 2027 while his F3 team-mate Pedro Clerot will return for a second season in the third tier, where he will be joined by Formula Regional Europe graduate Reza Seewooruthun.
FREC adds Algarve, Silverstone and Hungarian GP support race for 2027
1 Formula Regional Europe has published a 10-race calendar for 2027 including two new venues, Algarve International and Silverstone, as well as a race in support of the Hungarian Grand Prix. In addition to adding new venues and a Formula 1-support race, as exclusively revealed by Formula Scout in September, the championship will revert to its traditional format of two races per weekend, having experimented with a reverse-grid third race at four events in 2026.
Theophile Nael’s up-and-down F3 season: a tale of poles and penalties

And yet, despite taking three poles and three wins (more of either than any other driver), he only finished fifth in the overall standings, 71 points behind the champion, Ugo Ugochukwu, racing for the same Campos Racing team.
Stromsted to partner Slater at Invicta for 2027 F2 season
1 Photo: Formula Motorsport Ltd Noah Stromsted has been announced as Invicta Racing’s second driver for the 2027 Formula 2 season, joining his 2026 Formula 3 team-mate Freddie Slater. The Danish driver moves up from F3 after two seasons racing for the Italian Trident team for whom he took two victories.
VAR, Jenzer and Norris’s LN4 Fusion head F4 Germany entries for 2027
5 Fourteen teams will compete in the inaugural season of the revived German Formula 4 championship in 2027, according to series organizer Gedlich Racing. The list is headed by a four-car entry from Van Amersfoort Racing, a mainstay of F4’s previous incarnation in Germany, ADAC F4. The Dutch team took three drivers’ titles with Joey Mawson in 2016, Jonny Edgar in 2020 and Oliver Bearman in 2021.

F2 will add rounds in Mexico City and Istanbul Park, as well as making a return to Montreal, which was added as a replacement for the cancelled Middle East rounds in 2026.
FREC post-season tests end with Craigie and Lindblom to the fore
1 Mercedes-AMG F1 junior Kenzo Craigie finished the third and final Formula Regional Europe post-season test with the fastest time of the day. Van Amersfoort Racing’s Scott Lindblom pipped Craigie to the top spot in the afternoon by 0.086s, but the second session proved significantly slower, with not a single driver improving on their morning best.
Listening and learning: Ella Hakkinen taking first season “step-by-step”
3 Ella Hakkinen, the 15-year-old daughter of double Formula 1 World Champion Mika, opted for the relatively low-key surroundings of the Formula 4 Central European Zone championship to gain her first experience in racing single-seaters. But the choice of F4 CEZ was not driven by some grand strategic plan of the McLaren Driver Development Programme but rather, she says, “mostly a family decision. “I didn’t really choose it,” she says.
