2026-2027 HTM Opportunities The Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association Educational Foundation (FRLAEF) offers events, activities, monetary support as well as teacher and student support for your Hospitality & Tourism Management (HTM) program. The FRLAEF believes participation in these activities can lead to a richer learning environment for you and your students. Events and opportunities are listed throughout the August NewsBites below.

The newly combined Greater Fort Myers and Sanibel-Captiva Chamber of Commerce recently signed a management agreement with the Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association (FRLA) effective July 1 to serve as operational manager and regional director for the FRLA Southwest Florida Region. The chamber will provide governance and board administration, event planning and management, sales and membership development, member services, accounting and financial administration, and communications for the FRLA.

TALLAHASSEE – Today, the Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association joined the National Restaurant Association and 11 other state hospitality associations to share impacts related to terminating the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for nationals from Haiti and Syria who are currently living and working in the United States.

The FRLAEF will be offering nine Regional Workshops this fall. ProStart teachers may bring up to five students to each event. There is no fee to attend a Regional Workshop. Lunch will be provided for all attendees at each event. Chef coats will be given to all participating ProStart students at each event. Travel to and from the event is on your own. If Regional Workshops reach maximum capacity prior to the deadline, all subsequent schools will be given a link to get on the Waiting List.
