The Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine UK launched in 2006, and is the membership body responsible for the governance and development of sport, exercise and musculoskeletal medicine in the UK. We are an inclusive, multidisciplinary faculty with members working in various environments. We promote better health by setting and maintaining professional standards for the specialty and all those working within it. FSEM drives up standards through examinations and ongoing professional support and development. Source

The Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine UK (FSEM), in collaboration with the Undergraduate Sport and Exercise Medicine Society (USEMS), have announced Mr Nicolas Chapelot as the winner of the 2025 Essay Competition. Mr Chapelot is a medical student at University College London, originally from Cambridge, with a long-standing interest in sport and exercise. He competed in track sprinting at school and later played rugby at university.

This is another landmark moment, highlighting the positive work being done as we progress closer to the formation of a new College. Please note, this logo announcement does not mark the formation of the new college, with BASEM and FSEM continuing to exist and operate as separate entities until the point of formation.
FSEM Response to The Medical Training Review - FSEM
FSEM welcome the publication of the The Medical Training Review: Phase 1 diagnostic report. The extent of the listening events and stakeholder contributions to the report is evident and it strongly reflects and articulates the current state of medical training. This review highlights the areas which doctors in training and educators wish to retain, whilst recognising the significant challenges that currently exist and the tension between some of the reform requests.

And so, another Faculty Awards Ceremony has been and gone. On a wonderful sunny day in Edinburgh, over 130 new members, award winners and guests joined us at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh to celebrate the achievements and success of our new members.

CSEM Board Announcement - FSEM
BASEM and FSEM recently held an election for the new Board of Trustees at the College of Sport, Exercise and Musculoskeletal Medicine. Following a comprehensive voting process, we have now confirmed the first members of the new Board of Trustees. The vote was for the roles of President, two Vice-Presidents, an Honorary Secretary, and an Honorary Treasurer.
