Shirin opened this episode with a suggestion we had to shut down immediately. “We should be whispering for this episode,” she said, which is a fantastic bit for roughly eleven seconds and an actual nightmare for forty minutes.

Ten episodes. That is what Netflix handed us for My Life with the Walter Boys Season 3, and we spent most of them wishing somebody in the writers’ room had cut it down to eight. We loved the first two seasons of this show. We rewatched them. We were ready. And then Season 3 arrived and did the one thing a teen drama should never do: it made us stop caring what happened next. Shirin put it bluntly about ten minutes into recording. This was a pretty terrible season, I have to say.

Ten episodes. That is what Apple TV handed us for its new version of Cape Fear, and by the time the finale dropped on July 31, we had a lot of thoughts about that number. We talked about the first two episodes back in June when the show premiered, and we wanted to come back and do a proper wrap-up now that the whole thing has played out. The short version: we did not hate it.

It’s July, Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey lands in theaters this Friday, and we are here whether we like it or not. Shirin said it best when we sat down: As much as I try to get away from Greek mythology, it just keeps coming back and finding me. And I’m like, oh god. I guess we have to talk about this again. So we did. This is less a review (that part comes after we actually watch the thing) and more an honest sit-down about a question we cannot stop asking. The Odyssey is roughly 3,000 years old.

Neither of us walked into this one expecting much, and that instinct turned out to be correct. Enola Holmes 3 dropped on Netflix on July 1, the third entry in a franchise we have covered on Fully-Booked since the beginning. We wanted to like it. We really did. What we got is a film that looks lovely, moves politely, and disappears from your memory about eleven minutes after the credits roll.

Summer is here. The solstice has officially come and gone; the days are long and hot, and the question we keep coming back to is: what are you reading? In this episode of Fully-Booked: Literary Podcast, Meaghan and Arthur ditched the usual format and did something a little more laid back. No adaptation dissection, no deep dive into a single title. Just recommendations. Books that felt right for this time of year.

We’re trying something a little different this week. Shirin is away for a couple of weeks, so Arthur is filling in as cohost (don’t worry, we’re keeping the body-snatching jokes to a minimum). And honestly, this felt like the perfect time to do it, because Apple TV just dropped the first two episodes of its new Cape Fear miniseries, and we could not wait to talk about it. Prime Video’s adaptation of Elle Kennedy’s Off Campus series landed on May 13, and we couldn’t wait to dig into this one.
