Hey everyone! Welcome to my final review for Game Chronicles; nearly two years in the making and coming at you a year after we shut down the website. The last time we played with Whirlight: No Time to Trip was back in the summer of 2024 where we did a first impressions piece and a fantastic Q&A with the developer, but now the game has finally released, and it’s safe to say it was good enough to bring me out of retirement. Games like Whirlight: No Time to Trip hold a special place for me.
WAR RATS: The Rat em Up Early Access Review - PC
This is an Early Access Review and as such opinions are based solely on the state of the game at the time of review and subject to change as development progresses leading up to final release. After spending a handful of hours with an early access build of War Rats: The Rat’em Up from Wootusart Industries I am convinced war is hell, even for rats. The side-scrolling strategy shoot’em up which features cute rats in combat gear is deceptively challenging.
Out of Sight Review - PC
Remember the 1991 movie, The People Under the Stairs? The one where a group of robbers (including a young Ving Rhames) discover some kids locked in a basement during a house robbery. They are then chased through the walls of the home by its sadistic owners and their dogs. While playing through Out of Sight, from developer The Gang, I couldn’t help but think of the Wes Craven classic movie.
Harpagun Review - Quest 3
Over the years, I’ve played dozens of VR shooters just like Harpagun but none nearly this charming or fun. Borrowing loosely on the premise of Time Crisis or any of those arcade light gun games, you’ll be playing a space scavenger on a rescue mission to save one of their missing crew, as you explore a futuristic abandoned Earth teaming with aliens awaiting your response.
Golden Gloves Review - Quest 3
Golden Gloves is the latest boxing simulator to hit VR and despite my overall lack of enthusiasm for physical activity, this one actually got me out of my chair and working up a sweat. This is the official game for the Golden Gloves of America and the virtual gym was created by a licensed coach, promoter, and gym owner. The experience may seem limited at first glance, but once you start to explore the classic old-style gym, you’ll find lots to do starting with changing your environment.
Bionic Bay Review - PC
Are you a fan of those moody side-scrolling adventure games like LIMBO and INSIDE; you know the ones that are primarily shadow and silhouette with minimal music and little to no story or motivation. It’s been a while since we had one of those but now Bionic Bay has arrived to satisfy our cravings, and it is quite the tasty treat.
PAC-MAN: The Official Cookbook Review
Over the past 30 years I have written over 5,000 reviews but only three of those were for cookbooks and that includes today’s tasty entrée, PAC-MAN: The Official Cookbook, which I have to admit, of all three cookbooks I’ve reviewed, this is by far the best of the bunch. The “build quality” is incredible, with a heavy hardback cover that could double for a cutting board.
Seeing Isn’t Believing: ‘Out of Sight’ Launches Today
Starbreeze Entertainment and The Gang are proud to announce that Out of Sight, a unique and spine-chilling narrative adventure, is available now on Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and will be coming to Nintendo Switch this June. For the bravehearted in virtual reality, Out of Sight VR developed by Flat2VR is also launching today on Steam VR, with Meta Quest and PlayStation VR2 versions coming soon.
