Hello again. I can’t believe it’s MAY (no, I won’t post that meme) but I will say this year is flying. Last night, I saw The Devil Wears Prada 2 thanks to a screening with Colgate, and have a lot of thoughts (no spoilies, promise). The weirdest thing, to me, is seeing these characters do new things after watching the original countless times. It’s like being in the twilight zone. I’m both looking forward to and dreading the deluge of think pieces to come.

Lots going on lately: I had a lovely birthday with family followed by a busy week of travel—more on my time visiting SCAD soon, but it was nice to be in my home state for a bit, especially this time of year (pollen be damned). We’re back, back again. Thanks everyone for the kind feedback on last week’s little roundup. I love that you love the Sweater Stone and phone lanyards as much as I do! It was a fun one, and in keeping with the ethos of Gatekeeping, a collection of guest picks may be in order, stay tuned. A couple months full of travel kicked into gear this week: I was in Palm Springs the last few days for a fun work trip where Iliterally rode in a race car…life comes at you fast.

So…how’s everyone doing? I’ve been in a work haze but obviously popped my head above water to check in on The Bachelorette drama (I hesitate to even call it that when DV is involved, but the whole thing is undoubtedly messy). I hope at the very least ABC/Bachelor Nation takes some time before their next knee-jerk casting decision, but I don’t have high hopes. If the current blizzard in NYC and other various weather patterns around the country haven’t confirmed it, we’re still very much in the thick of winter. And my skin is feeling it. To be fair, my skin is always on the dry side. But this year it’s been particularly so, to the point that it’s patchy and red—and breaking out, too. Maybe it’s aging, or perhaps because I’ve trying too many new products—a hazard of the job, and something I usually try not to do.

Can we fast forward to spring already…? The ice in NYC is really cramping my style (not to mention an eyesore), and I feel like everyone I talk to is going through it right now. But at least Summer House is back, and I really do enjoy watching the Winter Olympics, even if there’s no gymnastics, Quad God’s now-legal back flip excepted.

So here’s what happened. I had every intention of sharing my winter skincare routine this week. Then, I broke beauty editor rule numero uno and started testing new products in 10-degree weather when my skin is at its most sensitive…have I learned nothing??? Naturally, breakouts and irritation ensued. So I’m going back to my trusted favorites (to be shared soon, once my skin hopefully calms back down). Instead, I thought I would share recs for something more reliable: hand creams.
