Coastal stabilisation works to protect railway through Folkestone Warren
Work has begun on a major coastal defence scheme to protect the railway that runs through Folkestone Warren in Kent, with thousands of tonnes of limestone being laid to prevent erosion and stabilise the cliffs. As GE’s sister title NCE reported, on 5 January, crews brought the first of three planned deliveries of Boulogne Limestone – a hard, crystalline rock commonly used in coastal protection – onto the Western beach.
