Star Trek: Red Shirts The Ghost Of The 21st Century is shaping up to be a banger. It reunites me with two great collaborators, editor Heather Antos from my Deadpool and Star Wars days at Marvel, and Scott Buoncristiano of THE DARK ROOM fame. A second volume of has been lettered and is being rescheduled. My fault! I inherited such a rich premise: Ensign Miller is secretly a Romulan spy inside of Star Fleet.

The week’s big news is that I’m leaving Earth again, this time with one of my former Deadpool editors, Heather Antos. IDW has been absolutely crushing the Star Trek comics, and I was invited to come try to follow the story that Chris Cantwell wrote. We’re jumping a few years past his story and we’ll be seeing what Miller, the Romulan spy in Starfleet will be doing to undermine the Federation. Just what is the “Ghost Of The 21st Century”? It will send a chill down your spine.

The Fire Horse Rides For Optimism First post of the new year right at the crack of mid-February is pretty on brand for me these days. I remain a work in progress, for the better part of the last year I focused on my own health after a difficult stretch of road. I took a lot of hit points, but that’s why I maxed out my constitution, right? Part of the change I’ve gone through is physical, and I’m proud of that, but the work I’m really proud of is under the hood.

This coming Wednesday, December 10, 2025 the giant-sized second volume of your favorite action, supernatural, romance starring a samurai and a gunslinger arrives in comic shops. Garry, Chris and Elliott went really hard on this cover. The book collects issues 5-10 and we couldn't be more proud of this one. Our lovers finally grab hold of one another as the island they’re trapped on becomes more hostile.

I’m getting ready to shut the computers down later this week to pivot back to a little unfinished family business. On the other side of that I’ll return to my desk after Thanksgiving intending to accomplish a writing sprint on some work I am very late on as a result of life. One of the lessons I learned in therapy this year has been about what happened to my nervous system when my personal fires went out and how those days were actually more difficult than when I was fighting metaphorical fires.

Well, hello there. LAST CALL FOR FISTFUL OF INKS Quick update here — we’re in the last days of the art edition of FALLING IN LOVE ON THE PATH TO HELL VOL 1 at Zoop. There are a very limited number of original art opportunities from Garry left. Sketch covers, and remarques are still available. There will be some news about a release party for the book in Los Angeles very soon. This past week was the best day of the year, Halloween.

Hello from New York. I’ve got boots on the ground for a very busy week of meetings, signings and a special drop in on a panel on Sunday. Guess which one. First, our tenth issue of FALLING IN LOVE ON THE PATH TO HELL debuted yesterday, and we have a small announcement in the back of the issue indicating that we’re taking a short hiatus so that Garry can have all the time he needs to tell the back end of our story with as much as love as possible.

I got to attend a charity screening of JOHN CANDY: I LIKE ME, benefitting St. Jude’s. The documentary is very worth your time when it debuts on Prime next week. It’s like getting a wonderful, new Candy movie. Colin Hanks, Ryan Reynolds, and their team really did a lovely job, and of course, so many of John’s collaborators show up for him and share best and funniest, along with the Good, The Bad, and the Ugly parts of a man trying to make everyone happy, to his own detriment.
