CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association officially released the 2026 Women's Tennis ITA Scholar-Athletes and All-Academic Teams. Carolina women's tennis was earned the nod as an All-Academic Team while six Tar Heels were named ITA Scholar-Athletes. Alana Boyce, Reese Brantmeier, Tatum Evans, Theadora Rabman, Mary Grace Rennard, and Maddy Zampardo represent Carolina on this year's scholar-athlete team.

Makayla Paige & Colton Sands Earn CSC Academic All-America Acclaim July 15, 2026 | Cross Country, Track & Field, Academics CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – For the second straight year, North Carolina's track & field / cross country's Makayla Paige and Colton Sands have been recognized as some of the sport's top students by earning College Sports Communicators Academic All-America honors.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Entering year four under the direction of head coach Mike Schall, the North Carolina volleyball program has announced their schedule for the upcoming 2026 campaign. The Tar Heels, fresh off back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances, will play 13 matches inside Carmichael Arena, 13 road matchups, and two neutral-site affairs.

All-Sport Schedule Softball Adds Maryland Transfer Bri Godfrey July 13, 2026 | Softball CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Carolina softball head coach Megan Smith Lyon announced the addition of Maryland transfer Bri Godfrey Monday afternoon. Godfrey comes to Chapel Hill after playing for Coach Smith at Marshall in 2023 and then two seasons at Maryland. In her career she has thrown 184.2 innings across 32 starts and 59 appearances.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Maggie Goloboy, a Carolina women's basketball alumna and seasoned executive with extensive leadership experience in strategy across the media, consumer and sports sectors, has been named Senior Associate Athletic Director of Strategy and Special Initiatives for Carolina Athletics. In this newly created position, Goloboy will help to shape departmental strategy, support enterprise-level decision-making and lead select initiatives from concept through execution.

Winslow & Matthijs Round Out 2026 MLB Draft For Carolina July 12, 2026 | Baseball PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The second day of the 2026 MLB Draft saw Carolina baseball's Macon Winslow and Matthew Matthijs selected to round out a six-person draft class for the Tar Heels. The junior catcher Winslow was a sixth-round pick by the Philadelphia Phillies while senior captain Matthijs was picked up by the Seattle Mariners in the 17th round.

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Star shortstop Jake Schaffner became North Carolina baseball's 27th first round pick, highlighting the first day of the 2026 MLB Draft for the Tar Heels as four of their players were selected. Schaffner, who was taken with the 20th overall pick by the Boston Red Sox, becomes the highest-selected UNC player since J.B. Bukauskas went 15th in 2017. The Heels now lay claim to 27 first round picks, including 14 since 2006.

"Matt is the ultimate professional in collegiate track & field operations.
