Posted The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 53-year-old man on human trafficking for involuntary servitude charges after he forced a female masseuse to perform illicit acts at a Golden-area massage parlor, according to a JCSO press release. Yuewu Zhao was arrested the week of Sept. 18 and issued a $100,000 cash or surety bond at his first court appearance, JCSO announced in the Sept. 21 press release. Zhao is next scheduled for a preliminary hearing at 9 a.m. Oct.

Special to Colorado Community Media bySuzie Glassman When Jefferson County staff made recommendations for the next phase of its plan to close or consolidate district schools in response to declining enrollment this past August, they used numbers to explain why Coal Creek Canyon K-8 Elementary School made the next round of school closures. The school, which is in Golden, has the lowest enrollment in the district, serving fewer than 85 students.

To be in a small club of female athletic directors at Evergreen High School is a significant and historic milestone. But to hear Maddy Hornecker tell the story, it’s really not that big of a deal. “I definitely think it’s pretty cool because (I’m) definitely in the minority group when it comes to athletic directors across the state,” she said. “It’s cool to start something and be in that small group of people. Some of those cheering were listening virtually as the U.S. Board on Geographic Names voted 15-1 in favor of the change. Three members abstained in the vote, which took place in Oregon. “This was the final step in the renaming process,” said Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes Gov. Reggie Wassana after the vote.
