A MICHELIN Guide chef and a former England Golf Coach of the Year are among members of the community helping the charity at the centre of the Silk 106.9 Golf Day at Mottram Hall next week. Reuben’s Retreat, based in Glossop, will benefit. They support families who have suffered the loss of a child or have a child living with medical complexities.

FORMER snooker world champion John Parrott, a patron of Woodlands Hospice, will host the Woodlands Hospice John Parrott Annual Golf Classic at West Derby Golf Club to help raise vital funds for the Hospice. First held in 2003, the event provides an opportunity for you to support the hospice by taking part or ‘sponsoring a hole’ at this flagship event. Woodlands Hospice Charitable Trust is an independent charity.

CHESHIRE’S Gemma Clews clinched her first LET Access Series (LETAS) victory in dramatic style with a playoff victory at the Smorum Ladies Open by EC Drive, in Denmark. Trailing by five shots prior to the third and final round, the 28-year-old had a strong final round of 68 (-4) and a faultless back-nine of three birdies and all pars to take Sweden’s Corrinne Viden and Nathalie Borg to sudden death.

CATH Rawthore lifted the English Senior Women’s Strokeplay Championship for a second time after she surged away from the field on the final day at Preston Golf Club. The 2014 champion enjoyed a share of the lead overnight and her magnificent final two-under par round of 71 was enough to give her back the trophy she won at Knaresborough nine years ago.
