I’m here because I’m Curtis Yarvin, once known as Mencius Moldbug. You’re here because you want to read and/or comment on drafts of this book I’m working on. When I finish the book, we’ll think of some other excuse.
The mission of Gray Mirror Of The Nihilist Prince is to present a detailed ex nihilo vision of governance in the 21st century. Its content will certainly include some old ideas from my old blog, Unqualified Reservations (2007-13). But UR focused more on the past and the present. The future-oriented material of GM is all-new premium content.
I’ll post new fragments twice a month, and also tape more or less the same texts as podcasts. Except for the first two chapters, all content is subscriber-only. When the book is finished, anyone who subscribed in June 2020 will get a free signed and numbered edition, which may even be worth something in a century or two.

A real path to grand politics
There are two kinds of politics: petty, and grand. Petty politics are the politics of habitual obedience, sincere cooperation, and regular procedure. Grand politics are the politics of the unlimited exception. Anything can happen. Everything can change. Every regular and orderly regime throughout history believes, and of course claims, that it has abolished grand politics. Every Chinese dynasty is the last dynasty and will reign forever. Of course, it never works out that way.
Redpilling Claude
I have a newborn baby and a startup and time is tight. So I thought: why not use AI? I need money. Money is good. Why not use AI? I have wiring that needs to be replaced. Have you ever heard the phrase “knob and tube?” It’s like cancer. House cancer. You have cancer of the house. “You have knob and tube.” So—why not use AI? So anyway I had this interesting conversation with Claude.
The situation and the solution
The story now seems clear: the second Trump administration is a tragedy. Let’s talk about what this means, and what can be done about it. A tragedy is not any random shitshow. A tragedy has a formal story arc. The laws of tragedy are strict. Losing is not enough. Losing is not a tragedy—unless you could have won. Losing by accident is not even a tragedy. Tragedy must be inevitable. Defeat must proceed from a tragic flaw. Etc. All the standard rules. A tragedy requires heroes, and their heroic journeys.

A few people, me among them, were seeing that the whole story of reality that we lived in was as false and narcissistic—at least!—as the Soviet Union’s narrative of itself. Yet none of us could accept the darkest aspect of that truth.
