September 29, 1946 - July 18, 2026 Clayton James Moxley, age 79, passed away Saturday morning, July 18th 2026, at Candler County Hospital in Metter, GA. Clayton was born on September 29th 1946 in Millen, GA to the late Jake Q. Moxley and Emma Bell Scarboro Moxley. He grew up in the Denmark community and was a 1964 graduate of Southeast Bulloch High School. He served in the United States Navy from 1966 – 1970.

Students with disabilities who are planning to attend college or technical school may be eligible for up to $17,725 per year through the Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency (GVRA) Bud McCall Post-Secondary Vocational Rehabilitation Grant. The grant is awarded to students with disabilities who are seeking college of university education to prepare for employment.

With the recent celebration of our nation’s 250th birthday, it seems fitting to look back at the founding of Statesboro and the humble beginnings of our city. Take a journey in time with me as we look at how those first foundational stones came to be. If you had ridden horseback through what is now downtown Statesboro in 1838, you probably would have kept right on riding. Not because you had missed your destination, but because you wouldn't have realized you had arrived.

Environmental groups launch warehouse tracking tool for the Savannah area
Local environmental organizations Savannah Riverkeeper, Ogeechee Riverkeeper, and One Hundred Miles have launched an updated Warehouse Dashboard, an interactive online tool designed to help community members, researchers, public officials, and other stakeholders explore industrial warehouse development across the Greater Savannah region. The dashboard includes an interactive map and database of industrial facilities in Coastal Georgia.

July 23, 1952 - July 17, 2026 Annie Catherine Garrett Fordham, 73, of Millen, GA, entered into eternal rest on July 17, 2026. She was born on July 23, 1952 in Marietta, GA. Cathy grew up in East Dublin, GA and worked as a beautician for more than 25 years in the Dublin area. She loved helping others and was known as a caregiver. She was a foster parent and fostered over 79 children over a 5 year period.
