Ground Shots
Newsletter (Digital)
This is Ground Shots, a publication about ecology and philosophy, stories and connection weaving, but also, whatever I want to talk about. The Of Sedge and Salt blog is a free writing project I have conducted for years. Consider this a space that merges the honesty, vulnerability, and intellectual inquiry woven into that blog over the years with even more honesty and candidness, informalized question asking and hard ponderings, wonderings of where the truth lies in it all. oil & rust: a revisit
I just found out today that my grandparent's farm might be sold and all the contents that are left on the farm are to be sold in an estate sale, literally today. I wasn’t notified. I wasn’t told. My heart is breaking. Though I understand when things have to go this way, I am obviously devastated. As anyone who loves a place would be. If anyone has known me long enough, they know how much I love this place, and how much it means to me.

{Become a paid subscriber to read the entirety of this weeks’ piece. Primarily, due to the highly vulnerable nature of this post, I put the majority of it behind a paywall as to not be visible to the entire public. Many of my pieces are vulnerable, but due to where I am at currently in my inner landscape, this one feels especially sensitive and I want to share it with a more limited audience. Trigger Warning: it is very intense.

love is a necessary ritualistic indebtedness to spirits seen and unseen
I’ve been thinking about writing again since my latest 7 day ecology class ended a week ago yesterday. I appreciate all of the comments and notes I got in response to my last piece, ‘the coyote and the dust’ written after my first week long class ended. I write this sitting at my handbuilt table, the wind blows pollen and dust around the green fields, whipping my canvas awning around. I honestly didn’t expect the response to my last piece. At times, I wonder if people read.
