US diesel prices remain at near-record highs, up 70% since the US-Israeli war on Iran began despite two recent moves by President Donald Trump to boost supplies: pressuring allies to release emergency reserves and expanding access to tax-exempt red-dyed diesel. The wars in Iran and Ukraine have triggered a severe global fuel supply crunch, pushing the average US diesel price to $6.28 a gallon on Friday, according to motorist group AAA.

A 25-year-old Madera man was killed Sunday evening when another driver allegedly ran a stop sign and crashed into his vehicle at a Madera County intersection, the California Highway Patrol said. CHP officers responded to the two-vehicle crash just after 6 p.m. at Road 28½ and Avenue 15. Investigators said a 32-year-old Madera man was driving a 2008 Mercedes-Benz CLS550 northbound on Road 28½, approaching Avenue 15.

James Comey is accused of sending a coded threat to murder President Donald Trump by posting an image of seashells on Instagram. The case against him is nearing a crucial turning point. Comey, the former FBI director fired by Trump in his first term, was indicted in April for posting a photograph of seashells arranged to form the number 8647. The Justice Department contended that “86” means “kill.” Everyone agrees that “47” refers to Trump.
