HaPi Research Lab

Members of the HaPI team (A/Prof Kyra Hamilton, A/Prof Amy Mullens, Dr Jacob Keech and Dr Daniel Brown) presented in the APS COVID Showcase in 2021. Health Psychology research and practice is well placed to make an important contribution to the response to COVID-19—from uptake of behavioural and pharmacological protective practices, to addressing longer-term social, physical, and mental health impacts as a result of COVID-19.

A new campaign reminding Griffith staff, students and the wider community to practice COVID-safe behaviours was launched in 2021 across all campuses. The campaign was based around research undertaken by Associate Professor Kyra Hamilton, who was the project team co-chair leading the campaigns development, showing that when those around you engage in COVID-safe behaviours, you are more likely to maintain these behaviours over time.

HaPI Lab graduate Dr Jacob Keech has been awarded the 2021 Herman Schaalma PhD Award at the European Health Psychology Society Annual Conference. The Herman Schaalma Award is awarded annually to acknowledge a PhD dissertation in the field of health psychology of outstanding excellence in terms of originality, significance and rigour.
