AFORR, Dale said, is pressing ahead to make Clark Center State Park a reality by coordinating with other organizations to establish a fund that can receive contributions from public and private entities as well as individuals. Through this, she said AFORR hopes to raise the full $6.25 million. Dale said her group was also working with others to propose a conceptual design for the park’s future.

Pawpaw is hardly a new thing that grows under the sun; indigenous people and early settlers of North America were naturally locavores, and vitamin-C-rich pawpaws were a staple of diets from the midwest to most of the Eastern Seaboard. They are the largest North American edible fruit and were made into nutritious foods, including cakes and drinks. Festival organizers encourage people to bring their champion pawpaws and recipes, using local foods.

Still, Williams said DOE has not yet ruled out data centers on its Oak Ridge land. "The Department has not yet decided on future missions for Oak Ridge and if that will include large scale data centers," he said. "The Oak Ridge, Portsmouth, and Paducah sites all have attributes such as land, water, transmission capability, infrastructure, and transportation routes that make them well suited for AI, nuclear, power generation, or other missions in the future.

TALLASSEE — The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) recovered the body of a missing kayaker on Tellico Lake after a days-long search. Game wardens located the body of Richard Kitts, 57, of Maryville, on Tellico Lake Aug. 19, one week after he was first reported missing.

Silver-Line later obtained the permit, part of an expansion of its outdoor storage, without those stipulations in 2024, about a year after Burton retired.
