Hello, Gorgeous! I don’t know where the week went, but I’m pretty sure it simply melted into the rest of summer. Let’s move into discussing what’s been living on my desk, body, or face this week. In no particular order: JINsoon Hyper Repair is described as “a restorative base coat that visibly strengthens nails in just two applications.” Nice. What’s even nicer is that it’s like this intense treatment for nails that treats your nails like you do your face.
A Different Type of Bubbly
Hello, Gorgeous! Is it just me, or do the weeks get ever shorter and more stressful? I thought so. I’ve noticed that even though summer has barely made its presence known, people are still sneaking out early for the weekend. In a tiny bit of housekeeping, the weekend roundup will henceforth be known as the midweek roundup and will appear on Wednesdays. Cool, right? So for today, let’s talk about those long showers (but not so long that you waste all the water) that wash away the week.
Is It A Boot Or A Sneaker?
Hello, Gorgeous! Much of the country is blanketed by a whole bunch of snow. And it’s SO pretty and magical. Until it’s not. In my part of Brooklyn, the glistening white fluffy stuff becomes grey and slushy piles in no time at all. And while I’ve resigned myself to wearing snow boots all season (maybe even all year with the way the weather is going), some people I know refuse to wear boots and insist their sneakers are just fine for sloshing through the snow.
Baby, It's Cold Outside
Hello, Gorgeous! Brrr. Also. All I want to wear is fleece. Is it attractive? Not particularly. Is it warm? Oh, yeah. But also, not that attractive. I found a fleece turtleneck that borders on cute. Strangely enough it has a ‘60s era cocktail party vibe. (If you wore 1,025 layers and a lot of fleece to a ‘60s era cocktail party, that is). It seems a bit on the pricey side, but if I wear this every single day until April, it might be a good investment piece, no?
Weekend Mode: Grape Expectations
Hello, Gorgeous! Do you ever get into this weird place where you can only look at —or wear— one color for an extended period of time? For the latter part of this week, I’ve been in a full purple revolution. To that end, here are some grape products to try out this weekend: I figured that winter is a great time to try to tackle some of that residual sun damage. I was right. I tried this product on a whim and dare I say that I’m delighted about how it seems to be working?
Cashmere for your Body
Hello, Gorgeous! Does anyone else have a really hard time taking that first step into the shower during cold winter months? I’m always so happy when the water is sluicing down over my weary (cranky) (cold) bones, but it does take a while to psych myself up for winter showers. You know what helps me every dang time? Knowing an amazing body wash awaits. Imagine my delight in hearing that eos — one of my fave bodycare brands — just dropped four new fragrances and a new shave oil.
This Hat is all That
Hello, Gorgeous! In my humble opinion there are two types of people in life: Hat People and No Hat People. I fit into the former category. Hat People don’t need the excuse of a bad hair day or awful haircut to wear a hat. They embrace the idea that they’re cold enough or bold enough to rock a bit of headgear — eccentricity optional. While I occasionally embrace the quirk factor, nothing makes me as happy as a really comfortable and well-designed hat. Behold: the Alpaquero Hat by Paka.
The Wish List
Hello, Gorgeous! This year I had a gift guide conundrum. The original plan was to have multiple unique gift guides (147 thoughtful gift ideas for your favorite barista’s dog walker!). But then I started to be inundated with guides on such random minutiae that I decided to spare you that bit of holiday related suffering. Instead, may I present one great big gift guide with something for everyone on your list — including you, because we both know you’re going to keep a few of these for yourself.
