In Week 3, however, the Tigers finally got the fast start – and victory – they’ve been working for. Hahnville traveled to face E.D. White and captured a 42-31 victory to move its record to 1-2 this season.

After absorbing its first loss of the season last week, Destrehan took the field at Fighting Wildcats Stadium Friday night set on turning the page. It didn’t take the Wildcats long to do so. Destrehan led 14-0 just five minutes into play and all but put things away in the first quarter as it rolled to a 56-12 victory to move its record to 2-1 on the season.

The Ormond Civic Association is inviting runners, walkers and families from across the area to take part in the Ormond Fall Classic 5K on Oct. 10 at Cypress Lakes Country Club Golf Course in Destrehan. The race begins at 8 a.m. Participants can register at ormondcivicassociation.com. Adult registration is $40 and youth registration is $15. The event is open to all ages and skill levels, and event organizers said families can also bring strollers and young children.

St. Charles Parish children can try their hand at fishing skills while learning about the outdoors during the library’s Junior Angler program Sept. 26. The free program will be held from 10 a.m. to noon outside of the East Regional Library. No registration is required. The program introduces children and teens to fishing through hands-on activities designed to teach about responsible fishing practices, conservation and the ecosystems that make fishing possible.

Blain Picou (10) of Destrehan For Destrehan head football coach Marcus Scott, West Jefferson will always be a special place. Scott guided the Buccaneers program from 2008 to 2013 – and to six consecutive postseason appearances and two district titles. It was the first head coaching job for Scott, who spent much of the early part of his coaching career on the west bank of the New Orleans area, going to on be head football coach at John Ehret before ultimately arriving at Destrehan.

Aaron Williams of Hahnville Hahnville travels to face E.D. White Friday night for a game that carries a bit of added meaning compared to much early season fare. One can expect this game to be played at a playoff level intensity. Both teams enter this game with a record of 0-2, and both have faced stern tests so far. E.D. White fell 21-20 in the season’s opening week to Thibodaux. Last week, E.D. White fell 35-7 to Dutchtown. Only one of these teams will be able to avoid falling to a mark of 0-3.

The Parish Council approved new regulations for e-bikes, electric scooters and other motorized cycles Monday after amending the ordinance to revise speed restrictions and helmet requirements. The amended ordinance removes a proposed 20 mph speed limit for the vehicles and instead requires riders to follow posted speed limits. It also revises helmet requirements based on the type of vehicle.

The scorching summer heat inspired an agreement between Luling’s Molly Gubert and her friend Suri Thomas – and ultimately inspired them to make a difference. “We were talking about how horrible the heat was and how tough it would be to be outside all day,” Gubert said. “And that led to us discussing how horrible it has to be for people who are homeless. They’re dealing with their everyday struggles on top of the wretched heat, and that made both of us think about how much we truly take for granted.

Stephen Weber mused about what was once known as Good Hope, Louisiana. “There are just about no signs of the town that used to be there,” Weber said. He and the Norco Civic Association are looking to change that. On Sept. 24, the association will be holding a ceremony to unveil a new Louisiana State Historical Marker remembering the town of Good Hope.

Mrs. Alverta Rita Breaux Daigneault, 102, of Grenada, and a longtime resident of Ama, LA, passed peacefully on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at Providence Assisted Living in Grenada. Alverta was born on January 22, 1924, in Matthews, Louisiana, to the late Adam Etienne Breaux and Aggie Picou Breaux. For over a century, she filled every room she entered with warmth, wisdom, and an unmistakable Louisiana spirit.
