+ in any season + for every body “I make jokes about it, but it’s the truth that I kind of patterned my look after the town tramp. I didn’t know what she was, just this woman who was blond and piled her hair up, wore high heels and tight skirts, and, boy, she was the prettiest thing I’d ever seen. Momma used to say, “Aw, she’s just trash,” and I thought, That’s what I want to be when I grow up.
Let the good stuff drive
[Just a note: Paid subs, please scroll all the way down for a special Package Room tour through everything I bought in London and Paris and why. Thank you for your support.
I’m the a*hole who was sad (and possibly racist) in Paris.
[Background: I quit “no-buys” and “one-buys” (rules made shopping too big a focus in my life) and completed a class on over-shopping. My 2026 goal: Practicing mindful, nontoxic shopping. This includes maintaining a Shopping Diary I share monthly with paid subscribers.] [AND: If you don’t want to talk about shopping because of what’s happening in the world, I get it.
Finally coming clean.
Just kidding. I wore white all week. My soul is still impure. [Just a note: Paid subs, please scroll all the way down for tryons and styling of pieces from the last Package Room, AND a walk through of what happens right after Sunday Night Outfit Planning live. Thank you for your support. So much good stuff is coming!] Last Monday was Yom Kippur, maybe the most sacred day of the year for Jews, where we acknowledge and atone for our sins.
JUST THE GLUE, PLZ
I’ve always hated the word “shoppies.” It’s so cute, like pigtails. At 56, I’m too grown for flippies and sunnies. Except that when fall comes along … I get the shoppies. What is it? It feels intense and vaguely— out of my hands. Like something sudden and pervasive. An angry, itchy (ok, euphoric) rash. This year, though, I’ve been thinking of it differently.
I spent a week on the Tibi runway
[Just a note: Paid subs, please scroll all the way down for 5 delicious things as a small thank you for your support! It means a lot to me.] IYKYK. Tibi is a sticky brand! It’s a combination of a factors, including the no-fail modernity of the pieces and the still-rare way the brand gets us talking about personal style. Some of us have had an arguably unhealthy addiction. I write about Tibi a lot. And shop it a lot.
something has happened. i’ve learned style.
Recently, I met up with my friend Irene Kim (김애린) in Paris. I was wearing — this will become relevant later — a black tube skirt, a burgundy tank top a burgundy warm-up jacket from Tibi over that. A brown sweater around my waist. A pair of royal blue tights pulled up high so you could see a peek at the top of the waistband, my Tibi jazz shoes and a Bao Bao bag. An outfit that came together like “oh!” and felt so good.
Breaking news: I got sexy in Paris.
[Just a note: Paid subs, please scroll all the way down for a visit inside the Schiaparelli store and a look at what went home with me.] I am smoky. I am in the same gray jeans I always wear. I am exposing clavicle. I am in Paris. Paris felt like it unlocked this “sexy at whatever age” thing I’ve been toying with, style-wise.
