Murray) After spending the latter half of last year with their G-League team, the Miami Heat are expected to sign veteran guard Dennis Smith Jr. to an Exhibit 10 contract, NBA insider Chris Haynes was among the first to report Sunday. Free agent guard Dennis Smith Jr. has reached a deal with the Miami Heat, his agent Daniel Hazan of Hazan Sports tells me. The Heat have been monitoring the former lottery pick very closely all summer.

Miami Heat guard Pelle Larsson has agreed to a new four-year, $60 million contract extension, with a mutual option for the 2030-31 season, Austin Brown and Steven Heumann of CAA Sports tell ESPN.

A defense anchored by Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo— along with Davion Mitchell, Andrew Wiggins and Pelle Larsson in the rotation— will be a clearcut top-three defense.

There is still a vacant 15th that could be addressed, but recent reports suggest that Miami will likely begin the 2026-27 season with that final spot open. The Heat have been linked to several veteran minimum options since the Richards signing— including but not limited to Gabe Vincent, Victor Oladipo and John Konchar (recently committed to the New York Knicks).

The Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers and Philadelphia 76ers were all heavily linked to the 41-year-old star in unrestricted free agency. Ultimately, James shocked the world and pulled out the ultimate ring chasing move by joining a stacked Sixers organization fresh off their trade to acquire Jaylen Brown.

And Pat Riley and staff will be monitoring if the right star to pair with Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo emerges. Heat insider Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald recently reported that Kyrie Irving, Zach LaVine and Jrue Holiday could all be potential options entering the 2027 trade deadline and free agency.
