The Virtual End of Aftermarket Tire Choices When you get new tires, especially when you opt for the freedom to upgrade to a better-performing tire, your fuel efficiency takes a hit, but the CO2 added to the equation by this is only a small part of the overall environmental story. What’s certain is that producing more tires creates more harmful byproducts.

The Performance Racing Industry Show is the one place where the entire motorsports world piles into the Indianapolis Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium and tries to outdo itself. Race teams, engine builders, fabricators, tuners, parts manufacturers, machine shops, and hardcore enthusiasts show up with their latest ideas and the hardware to back them up. PRI is not about shiny paint or car-show vibes.

As much as I like driving this truck, it’s well known that the braking system on the GMT400, or Old Body Style, Chevy and GMC pickups are barely adequate. With 11-inch rotors and 10-inch drums, the brakes are too small for the weight of the vehicle, and over the years I’ve owned it, I’ve had to replace the front rotors several times because they warp easily.

I'm definitely a long time car guy. My love of "all-thingsautomotive" dates back to the early 1960s, shortly after I said the word, "car" for the first time. I feel fortunate that I was able to grow up in the Muscle Car era of the late '60s and early '70s. I immersed myself in reading magazines, and learned everything I could about high-performance from that period, and knew that one day I would work in the performance industry in some way, shape or form.

Is drifting that much different than drag racing? I spent a day with the Pennzoil-sponsored RTR Mustang to find out. I am looking for a show of hands. We face a conundrum with this car. The great news is that the event is moving back to the downtown area in Pontiac, Michigan, and street-legal drag racing will take place on Woodward Avenue.
