Agri Spray Drones of Boonville, Missouri, announced it is moving from spray drone distribution into agricultural drone manufacturing and technology development, drawing on years of firsthand operator experience in product development, quality control, software, autonomous systems and U.S. manufacturing. The company also announced its next spray drone platform is in production, with additional details to be shared later this year.

Matt Frostic of Applegate, Michigan, began his term Oct. 1 as president of the National Corn Growers Association, a farmer-led trade association with offices in St. Louis and Washington. Frostic, who farms 1,000 acres of corn, soybeans, edible beans and sugar beets, spent his first day in the role outlining his priorities as president. They include securing passage of legislation allowing year-round sales of fuel containing 15% ethanol, passing a farm bill and diversifying demand for corn.

My husband passed away a couple of years ago and we did everything together. It took me awhile to get through that grief. I got back to my friends that I had ignored for some time. They were lady friends that I grew up with a very long time ago, and we started to go to coffee and go to each other’s homes to play games and share our lives.

After an exhilarating August rally of over $1 a bushel, November 2026 soybean futures endured a lackluster 35 cent sideways trading pattern for most of September. The holding pattern for prices was due to the unknown of the crop size growing in fields, the reality of strong domestic crush demand, while waiting patiently for news on Chinese demand. What will October bring for soybean prices?

Thankfully our area has received some moisture. It still is a little spotty from a few miles to another, but it is a life saver. It is amazing how fast the grass greens up in areas where we received several rains. There are still many grass pastures that are short and not enough growth to carry the cows through the winter without feeding a lot of hay and cake. In our area hay is scarce. Possibly there is a little cane around that might make a little hay.

West Texas A&M University in Canyon has received a $9.75 million grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture — the largest federal award in the university’s history — to help fund a cattle feedlot research facility. The USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture awarded the grant for a center for beef cattle research and innovation through its Research Facilities Act Program.
