Shell takes FID on LNG regasification terminal in the Bahamas
Shell Bahamas Power Company Inc., a subsidiary of Shell plc, has taken a final investment decision (FID) on an LNG regasification terminal in the Bahamas. As part of the investment decision, Shell acquired a 40% interest in New Providence Gas Ltd (NPG), a joint venture with Sun Oil Holdings (Sun Oil), a subsidiary of FOCOL Holdings Ltd.
Emerson automates refinery scheduling to improve margins
Emerson has introduced software that automates two of refining’s most time-intensive and margin-critical processes: crude scheduling and product blending. The new solutions enable refineries to increase operating margins, improve efficiency, and respond faster to market changes. Customers use Aspen Unified SchedulingTM (AUS) to eliminate the disconnected tools and manual data gathering that make scheduling harder during volatile markets.

Axens launches industrial scale SAF unit in France
Axens has announced the launch of the ERA project (Ethanol to Refuel Aviation), France’s first industrial-scale sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production unit based on advanced bioethanol. With a planned capacity of 50 000 tpy, the facility – currently in the process of site selection in France – is expected to start operations in 2030.
EIA: petroleum markets responded to disruptions in the Middle East in 2Q26
Petroleum markets in 2Q26 were characterised by continued disruptions to international crude oil and petroleum product flows through the Strait of Hormuz, contributing to higher and more volatile crude oil prices through most of the quarter. The disruptions also resulted in international buyers seeking alternative supply sources for petroleum products, driving up US refinery margins, production, and exports.

Emerson reduces control system alarms at Petromidia refinery
Emerson has helped Rompetrol Rafinare reduce distributed control system (DCS) alarm volumes by more than 95% using DeltaVTM AgileOps operations management software at its Petromidia refinery in Navodari, Romania. The project improved control system alarm performance, increased operator effectiveness and brought refinery alarm rates within the Engineering Equipment and Materials Users Association (EEMUA) 191 guideline recommendations at Romania’s largest refinery.
UNIMOT transports South American crude to PCK refinery
UNIMOT Paliwa, a subsidiary of UNIMOT S.A., imported a seaborne shipment of crude oil to Gdansk in July this year. The crude will be transported from the Naftoport terminal to the PCK refinery in Schwedt, Germany, using PERN's pipeline infrastructure.
