Geneva – The International Air Transport Association (IATA) will hold the fourth World Sustainability Symposium (WSS) in Brussels, Belgium, on 13-14 October 2026. Bringing together leaders from aviation, energy, finance, technology, academia, and government, the event will focus on the policies and actions needed to advance air transport's transition to net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

Geneva – The International Air Transport Association (IATA) released data for July 2026 global passenger demand: Total demand, measured in revenue passenger kilometers (RPK), was up 0.2% compared to July 2025. Excluding the Middle East, demand grew by 1.2%. Total capacity, measured in available seat kilometers (ASK), increased 0.3% year-on-year. The load factor was 85.2% (-0.1 ppt compared to July 2025). International demand fell 0.1% compared to July 2025.

Geneva –  The International Air Transport Association (IATA) released data for July 2026 global air cargo markets showing: Total demand, measured in cargo tonne-kilometers (CTK), increased by 3.9% compared to July 2025 (4.7% for international operations). Capacity, measured in available cargo tonne-kilometers (ACTK), increased by 1.7% compared to July 2025 (1.8% for international operations). “Air cargo demand grew 3.9% year-on-year in July.

Geneva – The International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced that the 2026 IATA Cargo Experts Conference (CEC) will focus on practical ways to improve day-to-day air cargo operations through global standards, technology, and data. The conference will take place in Budapest, Hungary, on 23–24 September 2026. “CEC brings cargo experts together to share what works, tackle common challenges, and take away tangible ideas they can apply in their own organizations. The focus is on operations.

However, with war in the Middle East raising both prices and volatility in energy markets, buying the fuel to keep planes flying now consumes almost a third of operating costs. That will amount to a walloping $350 billion spent by airlines in 2026, according to IATA’s latest global financial outlook for airlines.
