Diarrhea illness cyclosporiasis invades Wisconsin
If you don’t want to experience some intestinal issues, you may want to be careful around fresh produce right now. The Wisconsin State Journal is reporting 43 cases of cyclosporiasis in Wisconsin, which causes not only diarrhea but nausea and stomach cramps. It has been found in 31 states so far. The cyclospora parasite that causes it has been found in contaminated fresh produce like raspberries and lettuce and in untreated water.
Tom Tiffany gubernatorial campaign raised over $10M
Tom Tiffany announced Wednesday that his campaign to become Wisconsin’s next governor has raised over $10 million since it began. The campaign said in a press release that it has received contributions from all 72 Wisconsin counties and over 10,000 small-dollar donors. “Our grassroots campaign is reaching all 72 counties because the demand for common-sense leadership has never been stronger,” Tiffany said in a statement.
Madison Public Market hosts final pop-up market Wednesday, launches new weekly event in August
Wednesday, July 15, is the final day for the Madison Public Market’s pop-up events before it officially opens on July 23. The pop-up market is from 3:30-7 p.m. at 202 N. First St. The featured merchant is Isthmus Yarn. The business will have knitting and crochet demonstrations throughout the evening and give a peek at some of the yarn and products that will be for sale when the market officially opens.
27 tons of supplies gathered for Venezuela earthquake relief
Wisconsin residents have donated 27 tons of supplies to “United for Venezuela,” the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported. The relief effort was launched by Milwaukee Brewers catcher William Contreras and outfielder Jackson Chourio. The goods have been sent to Miami where Global Empowerment Mission will ship them to communities hit by the June earthquakes. Venezuelans will receive bottled water, non-perishable food and more.

Associated Builders and Contractors of Wisconsin announced Wednesday 1,132 member companies have joined the association for 2026, a record. ABC-WI represents the merit approach to construction, which includes builders and contractors who value open competition, direct relationships between employees, supervisors and owners and the ability for teams to cross-train and upskill.
Frontier Airlines working with SpaceX’s Starlink to provide in-flight Wi-Fi in 2027
Frontier Airlines plans to have in-flight Wi-Fi for passengers in early 2027, CNBC reported. Early reports could not say whether or not the Wi-Fi would be free for passengers, or how it would be attained. Frontier is one of the last airlines in the U.S. to add Wi-Fi. United Airlines, American Airlines and more use SpaceX for Wi-Fi.
Madison Parks Foundation opens accessible beach pathways
Tenney Beach, Warner Beach and Esther Beach now have permanent accessible beach pathways. These permanent pathways and seasonal beach matting, typically non-slip mats placed over sand, provide full access from beach shelters to the water’s edge. The Madison Parks Foundation was able to turn the pathways into a reality thanks to donors. This project is part of MPF’s broader Parks for All campaign.
Gorman affordable housing developments to break ground in Baraboo Thursday
Gorman & Company will join community leaders, residents and project partners Thursday to celebrate forthcoming new and remodeled affordable housing developments in Baraboo. The Fordham Place groundbreaking and Corson Square revitalization event will take place at 10:30 a.m. at 920 10th St. in Baraboo. Fordham Place will bring 56 new affordable apartment homes to the neighborhood, including 18 one-bedroom, 26 two-bedroom, and 12 three-bedroom apartments.
Wisconsin tech colleges face financial strain
While preparing budget plans for the upcoming year, one thing became clear for Wisconsin’s 16 public technical colleges: a financial challenge is incoming, the Cap Times reported. Wisconsin Technical College System President Layla Merrifield told the publication how state funding is no longer predictable and falling short of costs. Property taxes aren’t keeping up due to legislative changes, and there is inflation to navigate.
