​The American lobster fishery is one of the most valuable fisheries in the United States, but stocks are increasingly affected by climate change and disease. One temperature-driven threat is epizootic shell disease (ESD), which damages the lobster's shell, potentially leading to secondary infection and death. Warmer water temperatures are associated with higher prevalence and severity of ESD.

​We invite you to submit an abstract to showcase your research at the ASC 2025. This is an excellent opportunity to share your work with a vibrant community of scientists and engage in meaningful discussions. Your abstract should highlight the core aspects of your research in up to 200 words. Session conveners will use the abstract to assess the relevance and quality of your submission. It should be clear, concise, and sufficiently detailed to stand on its own.

​​​​Bill Karp, President of ICES, welcomed the delegates of ICES Member Countries who gathered at ICES Headquarters in Copenhagen, Denmark for the 112th Council meeting this week. The Council meeting serves as a key platform for strategic discussions that will shape ICES future priorities. Discussions included the prioritization of offshore renewable energy throughout ICES Member Countries,​​ the advisory processes, ecosystem-based fisheries management, and the recent cyber-attack.

Professionally, Grant was a Professor of Oceanography at Dalhousie University (Canada). He completed his BSc in Zoology in 1976 (Duke University) and his PhD in Biology in 1981 (University of South Carolina). Grant joined Dalhousie University as a NATO postdoctoral fellow in 1981, became a Full Professor of Oceanography in 1997, and held multiple positions recognizing his worldwide leadership in aquaculture research.
