Regan Nano and the Origin Festival 20-Year Legacy For the past twenty years, Origin Festival has been at the forefront of the South African Psytrance scene, putting on international level events in our very backyard. At the head of the operation is none other than Psytrance extordinaire and Nano Records label owner, Regan Tacon.

We chat to Regan about the 20-Year Legacy of Origin Festival Over its 20-year history Origin Festival has become the leading outdoor electronic music festival in Cape Town. How did they do this? By consistently pushing the boundaries of production, music and art to international standards and delivering this year in and year out.

Ritmo is a name in Psytrance which needs no introduction. Having produced multiple albums and countless eps, remixes, and tracks galore as both a solo artist and in collaboration with many revered artists in the scene, Ritmo has been at the forefront of Progressive Psy-trance for around 15 years! Dubi Dagan, aka Ritmo, has spent the past 3 years meticulously crafting his third studio album, “Roots,” which is out now via Iboga Records.

It was after attending Iboga’s 15th anniversary party in Copenhagen in 2012 that he was hooked and began his journey of producing progressive psytrance.

The short description of Dub is that it is a music style created by sound engineers who started to manipulate multitrack recordings with studio effects and tape edits. Dub actually originated in the studios of Jamaica by reggae sound engineers who started experimenting with delays and tape manipulation to create B-side dub instrumentals of their original multi-tracks.
