The 2026 Joint World Conference on Social Work, Education and Social Development, jointly convened by the International Association of Schools of Social Work (IASSW), the International Council on Social Welfare (ICSW) and the International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW), concluded in Nairobi with a renewed commitment to advance the Global Agenda for Social Work and Social Development through strengthened partnership, collective action and a shared commitment to sustainable futures.

The International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW) expresses its deepest solidarity with the people of Venezuela following the devastating earthquake that has affected communities across the country. Our thoughts are with all those who have lost loved ones, been injured, displaced, or whose homes and livelihoods have been impacted by this tragedy. In times of disaster, social workers play an essential role in supporting affected individuals, families, and communities.

Across the globe, Indigenous Peoples have never merely survived on the land; they have coexisted with it, acting as its premier guardians and treating the soil, mountains, and waterways as living relatives. This connection is deeply tied to the core mission of social work.

The IFSW Asia-Pacific Region has successfully completed its 2025 Regional Development Fund (RDF) project Strengthening Intergenerational Solidarity in the Present and for the Future in the Asia-Pacific Region , as a valuable resource for social workers committed to advancing intergenerational solidarity and sustainable wellbeing throughout the Asia-Pacific region. The initiative brought together social workers, academics, and community leaders from across the region through two key activities.
