Apple may be preparing a new push to make the App Store more profitable. In the latest Power On newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that CEO John Ternus and services chief Eddy Cue are looking for ways to improve App Store margins and add more recurring revenue. No policy has changed yet. Gurman’s report does not name a finished proposal, so developers and iPhone users have nothing new to change today.

CarPlay now has a fifth major AI chatbot. 9to5Mac reports that Anthropic’s latest Claude iPhone app update adds CarPlay support, joining ChatGPT, Perplexity, Grok, and Meta AI. Apple opened CarPlay to voice-based conversational apps with iOS 26.4. The earlier iOS 26.4 CarPlay update detailed the voice-first category, which Apple’s CarPlay developer page now lists alongside navigation, audio, messaging, and EV charging apps.

Asahi Linux now officially supports Macs with M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max chips. The project merged M3 support into its installer on September 6, giving owners of newer Apple silicon Macs a supported path to try Linux. This is a major compatibility step, not a finished desktop Linux port. Asahi says most of the hardware support already available on M1 and M2 now works on M3, but GPU and full display-controller support remain unfinished.

But after digging deeper into why Windows 11 keeps asking for a Microsoft account, I found that the truth was much less dramatic and far more practical.

Apple’s unannounced A20 Pro chip may add a seventh GPU core, according to a Weibo post from user Fried White Rice. The same reconstruction points to a faster memory interface and a larger cache for the efficiency cores. The evidence is indirect. The images show claimed solder-joint positions on the circuit board, not a photograph of the A20 Pro die. The seven-core reading is an inference from that layout, so it should be treated as a plausible leak rather than a specification.

OpenAI has officially launched GPT-6 Astra, its new flagship model for computer use, coding, browsing, science, and professional work. The rollout starts with a limited set of organizations before expanding to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise users over the next few days. The most useful changes are aimed at long, messy tasks.
