Canton Repository July 6, 2026, 5:39 a.m. ET RITTMAN ‒ Four people were killed, including a Rittman police officer, in a shooting the night of July 5, Wayne County Sheriff Thomas Ballinger said. Authorities responded at about 9:30 p.m. to a report of a disturbance and shots fired and "immediately started taking fire," the sheriff told reporters, according to video posted by Canton Repository news partner News 5 Cleveland.
