30 The Quad, or the Quadrilateral, is a mechanism by which four countries—the United States, India, Japan, and Australia—coordinate their diplomatic partnership in the larger Indo-Pacific region. For India, the Indo-Pacific stretches from the east coast of Africa to the West Coast of the US. It is NOT centered on China. The Quad is neither an alliance, a military grouping, nor a plurilateral organization. It has no organization or secretariat.
